AMAZON SEO · NEPAL

Rank your Nepali products higher on Amazon and reach international buyers who are ready to purchase

Nepali exporters on Amazon face a global search engine — buyers in the US and UK are searching right now. Without optimised titles, backend keywords, and A+ Content, your products stay invisible while competitors take the sale.

63% of US product searches start on Amazon · Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk — primary marketplaces for Nepali sellers · 30–60 days for optimised listings to see ranking movement · Cross-border export via Amazon FBA
What's broken

Your products are on Amazon. Buyers searching for them can't find them.

Listing titles not optimised for A9

Amazon's A9 algorithm uses the listing title as one of its strongest ranking signals. A title that leads with your brand name and a poetic product description — rather than the exact search terms buyers type — tells A9 nothing useful. Titles need to front-load primary and secondary keywords in the format buyers actually search: product type, key attribute, and relevant qualifier. Without this, your listing won't surface for the searches that convert.

Backend search terms not utilised

Seller Central gives every listing up to 250 bytes of backend search terms — keywords that don't appear in the visible listing but are indexed by A9 and can drive ranking. Most Nepali sellers on Amazon either leave this field empty or fill it with duplicates of their title keywords. This wastes one of the few direct levers you have over A9 indexation. Correctly populated backend search terms include synonyms, alternate spellings, complementary queries, and long-tail buyer terms that wouldn't fit in the title.

Bullets and descriptions written for the brand, not the algorithm

Many Nepali handicraft, pashmina, and tea sellers write listing copy the way they'd describe their products at a trade fair — emphasising heritage, craftsmanship, and story. That content has value for conversion, but A9 needs keyword-density signals in bullets and descriptions to understand what the product is. A bullet that says "hand-knotted by artisans in the Kathmandu Valley using traditional techniques" doesn't match what a buyer in Manchester types: "large wool pashmina shawl wrap navy blue." Listings need both — and most have only one.

No A+ Content

A+ Content (Enhanced Brand Content) is available to brand-registered sellers and has a direct effect on conversion rate — Amazon's own data shows 3–10% uplift on average. A+ Content adds visual modules, comparison charts, lifestyle imagery with captions, and brand story sections below the fold. Most Nepali sellers competing in handicraft, textiles, and food categories on Amazon have no A+ Content at all, which means buyers comparing listings are consistently converting on competitor pages instead.

Review velocity too low

The A9 algorithm weights review count and recency as strong ranking signals — and for new exporters shipping from Nepal, building review velocity is genuinely hard. Buyers don't receive their orders for 2–4 weeks via international shipping, reducing the rate at which Amazon's automated request emails trigger. Without a compliant follow-up strategy through Amazon's Request a Review button, and without an insert card strategy that complies with Amazon's terms, review accumulation is left entirely to chance.

Images don't meet Amazon's standards

Amazon's main image requirements — pure white background, product filling at least 85% of the frame, no text overlays, minimum 1000px on the longest side — are enforced by the platform and affect listing suppression risk. For handicraft categories specifically, many Nepali sellers photograph products on fabric backgrounds or styled surfaces that don't meet the main image requirement. Beyond compliance, secondary images (lifestyle, detail, scale reference, infographic) directly affect conversion rate and are frequently absent from listings in these categories.

What we engineer

What's included in our Amazon SEO service

Amazon keyword research

Keyword research conducted against Amazon's search index — not Google's. We use ASIN reverse-lookup to identify the keyword sets your competitors rank for, cross-referenced against Amazon search volume data. For Nepali export categories, we research both US and UK marketplace keyword sets, which differ in vocabulary and search volume. Output: a primary and secondary keyword map for each ASIN, prioritised by volume and ranking opportunity.

Listing title, bullet, and description optimisation

Title rewrites that front-load primary keywords within Amazon's character limits while remaining readable and click-worthy. Bullet point rewrites that hit A9's keyword signals while leading with buyer benefits — not just product attributes. Description copy that serves double duty: it carries secondary keyword targets for A9 indexation and answers the conversion questions a buyer has before purchasing from an international seller.

Backend search term strategy

All Seller Central keyword fields — search terms, subject matter, intended use, target audience — populated with non-duplicate, high-signal terms. We maximise the 250-byte search terms field by eliminating duplicates from visible copy, adding synonym variants, alternate spellings (US English vs British English for Nepal's .com and .co.uk markets), and long-tail queries that wouldn't fit naturally in the listing text.

A+ Content creation strategy

For brand-registered sellers, we plan, brief, and where required write the A+ Content module strategy — standard A+ module selection, copy, and image brief for each module type. For Nepali handicraft and textile sellers, this typically includes a brand story module, a material and craft process module, a size/use-case comparison chart, and care instruction imagery. We work within your existing brand photography or brief what new imagery is needed.

Review velocity strategy

A compliant, systematic review request strategy using Amazon's native Request a Review tool — timed to maximise response rate within the eligible window (5–30 days after delivery). For cross-border sellers, we calculate the optimal request timing based on estimated delivery windows. Product insert copy that is compliant with Amazon's buyer-seller messaging policies — directing buyers to contact seller support rather than asking directly for positive reviews.

Amazon listing visibility in Google

Amazon product page URLs are crawled and indexed by Google. When a listing is well-structured — keyword-rich title, detailed description, populated attributes — it performs better in Google's organic results as well as in Amazon search. We optimise listing content with Google's crawl in mind alongside A9, so your products capture organic search traffic from buyers who start their search on Google rather than Amazon.

What changes

Why Amazon sellers choose us over PPC-only approaches

Before
After
Before Relying entirely on Sponsored Products ads — ACOS climbs, organic rank never improves
After We optimise the listing fundamentals first. Organic rank improvement reduces your reliance on paid spend and lowers ACOS over time because better-ranking listings convert at higher rates.
Before Ad spend on listings that convert poorly because titles and bullets aren't optimised
After We fix the listing before running traffic to it. A well-structured title, keyword-rich bullets, and compliant imagery convert at meaningfully higher rates — meaning every dollar of ad spend goes further.
Before No A+ Content — losing conversion rate to competitors who have it
After We plan and create A+ Content for brand-registered sellers. For Nepali handicraft and pashmina sellers, A+ Content is especially valuable — it provides the space to show craft detail, material quality, and brand story that converts international buyers who can't handle the product first.
Before No review strategy — waiting passively for reviews that may never come
After We set up Amazon's native Request a Review system and time it correctly for your shipping windows. For cross-border sellers, a poorly timed review request — sent before the product has been delivered — gets no response. We fix that.
Before Amazon traffic only — missing Google searches for "buy Nepali pashmina online" or "fair trade Himalayan tea UK"
After We optimise Amazon listing URLs so they also capture Google organic searches from UK and US buyers who start their search on Google rather than Amazon. These are high-intent searches that most Amazon sellers leave uncaptured.
Common questions

Questions about Amazon SEO in Nepal

What is Amazon SEO and how is it different from Google SEO?

Amazon SEO is the practice of optimising product listings so they rank higher in Amazon's internal search results — driven by Amazon's A9 algorithm rather than Google's ranking system. The core difference is intent and signals: Amazon's A9 algorithm prioritises conversion probability alongside relevance, meaning that listings which drive clicks and sales rank higher, not just listings that contain keywords. Google SEO optimises for a broad range of content types; Amazon SEO is narrowly focused on product listing elements — title, bullets, description, backend search terms, images, reviews, and sales velocity.

How does the A9 algorithm work?

Amazon's A9 algorithm ranks listings based on two primary factors: relevance (does the listing match the search query?) and performance (do shoppers click on and buy this listing?). Relevance signals include keyword presence in the title, bullets, description, and backend search terms. Performance signals include click-through rate, conversion rate, review count and rating, and sales velocity. A9 updates rapidly — listing changes are re-indexed within hours — which is why Amazon SEO shows results faster than traditional web SEO.

How long until Amazon rankings improve?

Listing optimisation changes are indexed by A9 within 24–72 hours. Measurable ranking movement on primary keywords typically appears within 30–60 days for most categories. The 90-day mark is where we target meaningful BSR improvement and sustained first-page presence for primary search terms. Results vary by category competitiveness and starting position.

Do Amazon listings rank on Google?

Yes. Amazon product page URLs are indexed by Google and can appear in Google's organic search results. Well-structured listings — with keyword-rich titles and detailed descriptions — perform better in Google search as well as in Amazon's own algorithm. For Nepali exporters, this means a buyer in the UK searching "buy handmade pashmina shawl UK" on Google may find your Amazon listing directly without ever opening Amazon first.

Does A+ Content help with SEO?

A+ Content text is not indexed by Amazon's A9 algorithm — it does not count as additional keyword content for ranking purposes. However, A+ Content directly improves conversion rate, which is a performance signal that A9 does weight. Better conversion rate leads to better sales velocity, which leads to improved ranking over time. The mechanism is indirect but well-established.

What's the difference between Amazon SEO and Amazon PPC?

Amazon PPC (Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands) pays for placement in search results. Amazon SEO earns placement through listing quality and sales performance. PPC delivers immediate visibility but stops when you stop spending; organic ranking compounds over time. The most effective sellers use both — but PPC spend goes further when the underlying listing is fully optimised, because better-converting listings have lower ACOS.

How much does Amazon SEO cost?

Amazon SEO services at Ignited Nepal are priced based on catalogue size, marketplace coverage, and scope. For Nepali exporters with 5–20 ASINs across Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk, a one-time listing optimisation project typically sits in the range of NPR 80,000–200,000 (approximately USD 600–1,500), depending on whether A+ Content creation is included. Ongoing monthly retainers for catalogue management and ranking maintenance start at NPR 50,000 per month. Request a diagnostic to get a scope-specific quote.

Do Nepali sellers need a US address or LLC to sell on Amazon.com?

No. Nepali sellers can register as individual sellers or professional sellers on Amazon.com without a US address or US legal entity. You do need a valid national ID or passport, a bank account that supports international wire transfers (or a service like Payoneer or Wise to receive Amazon disbursements), and a credit card for seller fees. Amazon does not require a US LLC or US bank account for international sellers — though some sellers choose to set up a US entity for tax and banking convenience. We can advise on the account setup process as part of the diagnostic.

Nepali exporters have products that buyers in the US and UK are actively searching for. The gap between invisible and page-one ranking is usually a set of fixable listing problems — titles that don't match search queries, backend keywords left empty, A+ Content not built.
