WEBSITE REDESIGN

Your Website Is Not Underperforming by Accident

Most UK businesses come to us with a site that looks fine on the surface but loses visitors at every turn. The navigation is unclear. The messaging does not match what the business actually does. The calls to action compete with each other. We fix the structure, the language, the hierarchy, and the journeys — not just the design.

This is for you if

This service is built for businesses that already know their website is part of the problem.

Your firm was acquired, merged, or rebranded in the last two years. The old site still exists in spirit — the original messaging, the legacy service categories, the page hierarchy that made sense five years ago. Your new positioning is clear internally but invisible externally. Visitors land on a homepage that tells a story you no longer tell.

You scaled your team, refined your offer, and won better clients. Your website still describes the version of the company that existed when the site was first built. Sales teams send prospects to the site with a quiet apology. You know the site is not doing the work it should, but fixing it has never been the urgent priority — until now.

You are raising investment, entering a new market, or starting a procurement process where the website will be scrutinised. The site as it stands does not reflect the seriousness of what you do. You need a version of the company online that matches the version you present in the room.

What's broken

A website audit typically surfaces one or more of these four structural problems.

The Site Was Built Before Mobile-First Indexing

Google shifted to mobile-first indexing in 2019. Sites built before that shift were designed for desktop and retrofitted for mobile. The retrofitting usually produced compressed layouts, oversized images, and navigation patterns that do not work on a phone. These are not design problems. They are architecture problems that require rebuilding, not resizing.

The Messaging Describes Capabilities, Not Outcomes

Most underperforming websites describe what the company does rather than what the client gains. Capability-led copy reads like a company brochure. It does not answer the visitor's actual question, which is whether this business can solve their specific problem. When messaging is rewritten around outcomes and audiences, conversion rates change without any change to traffic.

The Information Architecture Does Not Match User Intent

Visitors arrive with a question. If the site structure was built around internal logic — what the company sells, how it is organised, what the leadership wanted to feature — rather than what visitors are looking for, most of those visitors will not find what they need. They leave. This is an IA problem, not a design problem.

GDPR Consent Architecture Was Never Properly Built

For many UK businesses, the cookie consent layer was bolted on after the site was built. Consent logs are incomplete. The privacy policy does not reflect current data flows. Analytics are running on unclean consent. A redesign is the right time to rebuild consent architecture correctly, not patch it again.

What we engineer

Five deliverables. Every project includes all of them.

Site Audit Report

Before any design work begins, we audit what exists. We assess page structure, messaging clarity, conversion path logic, mobile performance, technical health, and current analytics setup. The audit report is a working document, not a formality. It informs every decision that follows.

New Information Architecture and Sitemap

We restructure the site around how your visitors think, not how your business is organised. This includes defining primary navigation, URL structure, page hierarchy, and content groupings. The IA document is agreed before wireframes begin.

Wireframes and Design

We build low-fidelity wireframes first to validate the structure, then progress to high-fidelity designs. Every design decision references the audit findings. CTA hierarchy, trust signals, and page flow are treated as structural elements, not styling choices.

Build, Content Migration, and Redirect Map

We build the new site, migrate and rewrite content where needed, and produce a full 301 redirect map. Every old URL with search equity is redirected. No traffic is lost to broken links or orphaned pages.

Analytics Continuity and Launch

We carry across your analytics setup, rebuild GDPR consent architecture, verify tracking before go-live, and confirm data continuity post-launch. You do not lose historical context when the new site goes live.

What changes

Four things change when the structure is fixed.

Before
After
Before Google shifted to mobile-first indexing in 2019. Sites built before that shift were designed for desktop and retrofitted for mobile. The retrofitting usually produced compressed layouts, oversized images, and navigation patterns that do not work on a phone. These are not design problems. They are architecture problems that require rebuilding, not resizing.
After When homepage messaging is rewritten around audience and outcome rather than capability, average time-to-clarity drops. Visitors make faster decisions. Bounce rates from the homepage fall. This is the most consistent result across every redesign we complete.
Before Most underperforming websites describe what the company does rather than what the client gains. Capability-led copy reads like a company brochure. It does not answer the visitor's actual question, which is whether this business can solve their specific problem. When messaging is rewritten around outcomes and audiences, conversion rates change without any change to traffic.
After When the site reflects the actual positioning of the business, it becomes a sales tool rather than a liability. Proposals reference it. Sales conversations start from a higher baseline. This is harder to measure but consistently reported by clients within 90 days of launch.
Before Visitors arrive with a question. If the site structure was built around internal logic — what the company sells, how it is organised, what the leadership wanted to feature — rather than what visitors are looking for, most of those visitors will not find what they need. They leave. This is an IA problem, not a design problem.
After A well-executed redirect map and clean URL structure prevent the traffic loss that poorly managed redesigns produce. When the IA is improved and content is restructured, organic performance typically improves in the months following launch.
Before For many UK businesses, the cookie consent layer was bolted on after the site was built. Consent logs are incomplete. The privacy policy does not reflect current data flows. Analytics are running on unclean consent. A redesign is the right time to rebuild consent architecture correctly, not patch it again.
After GDPR compliance is not a bolt-on. When consent architecture is rebuilt as part of the project, you have clean analytics data, a defensible consent log, and a privacy policy that matches what the site actually does.
How it works

Four stages. A typical project runs eight to fourteen weeks depending on scope and client review speed.

  1. 01

    Audit and Discovery

    Weeks 1–2

We audit the existing site across six dimensions: messaging clarity, information architecture, conversion path logic, technical health, mobile performance, and analytics setup. We interview key stakeholders and review any available data on user behaviour. The output is a written audit report with prioritised findings.

  2. 02

    Architecture and Wireframes

    Weeks 2–5

We build the new sitemap and IA document, present it for sign-off, then move into wireframes. Low-fidelity wireframes are reviewed before design begins. This stage is where structural decisions are made. It is the most important stage of the project.

  3. 03

    Design and Build

    Weeks 5–10

High-fidelity designs are produced, reviewed, and approved. Build follows design. Content is migrated, rewritten where needed, and placed according to the approved wireframes. The redirect map is built in parallel with the site.

  4. 04

    QA, Launch, and Analytics Handover

    Weeks 10–14

We run full quality assurance across devices and browsers, verify all redirects, confirm analytics tracking and consent architecture, and launch. Post-launch, we monitor for crawl errors, redirect failures, and tracking anomalies for 30 days.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about Website Redesign

How long does a website redesign take?

Most projects run between eight and fourteen weeks from audit to launch. The timeline depends on site size, the volume of content to migrate, client review speed, and whether content needs to be written from scratch. Projects that stall in the review phase take longer. We provide a project plan with review deadlines at the start of every engagement.

Will we lose our search rankings during the redesign?

A properly executed redirect map transfers search equity from old URLs to new ones, and organic performance typically stabilises within six to eight weeks of launch. The risk of ranking loss comes from poorly managed redirects, removed content, or significant structural changes without proper technical handling. We audit your current rankings before the project begins and build the redirect map before go-live.

Do you handle GDPR consent as part of the project?

Yes. Every UK project includes a review of the existing consent architecture and either a carry-across or a full rebuild, depending on what is in place. We ensure consent logs are properly structured, the cookie banner reflects actual data flows, and the privacy policy is updated to match the new site.

Can you redesign our site without rebuilding it on a different platform?

In most cases, yes. We can redesign and rebuild on the same platform if the existing CMS is appropriate for the project. We assess the platform during the audit phase and recommend a change only where the current system is the cause of structural problems. Platform migration is a separate scoped item.

What do you need from us to start?

We need access to the current site's analytics and search console data, a list of key stakeholders for the discovery interviews, and any existing brand guidelines or positioning documents. The audit can begin within one week of briefing. We do not need a full content brief upfront — content strategy is developed as part of the process.

If Your Website Is Not Doing the Work, It Is Costing You

Most UK businesses are losing enquiries to a site that was built for a version of the company that no longer exists. A website redesign from Ignited Nepal starts with an audit, not a proposal. We find what is broken before we recommend what to build.
