WEBSITE MAINTENANCE & SUPPORT

Keep the website you invested in secure, updated, and working

Many businesses in the UAE have a WordPress site with no maintenance plan, no backup system, and no one accountable for updates. The site was built by a freelancer or an agency that handed over the project and moved on. When something breaks, or a plugin gets exploited, there is no one to call. Ignited Nepal provides ongoing maintenance so your site stays secure, updated, and performing without you having to manage it.

WordPress core, plugin, and theme updates tested on staging before production · Daily off-site backups with 30-day retention · Uptime monitoring with 99.9% SLA alerting · Monthly report with full transparency on what was done
This is for you if

Maintenance is relevant to every WordPress site, but these three situations make it urgent.

The site was launched, the relationship with the developer ended, and no one took ownership of ongoing updates. The WordPress dashboard shows a column of pending plugin updates but no one on the team is confident enough to apply them without risking a breakage. In the UAE market, where many WordPress sites were built by freelancers or boutique agencies with no formal handover process, this is the default state for a large proportion of active sites.

The hosting provider sent a suspension notice, or a colleague noticed that the site was serving pharmaceutical spam pages to search engine users. Malware infections on WordPress are almost always the result of an unpatched plugin vulnerability. After the cleanup, the exploited entry point needs to be permanently closed and monitoring needs to be in place so the site is not reinfected within weeks of being cleaned.

The freelancer delivered the project, handed over the login credentials, and has not been in contact since. There is no staging environment, no backup policy, no documentation of what plugins are installed or why. When a new feature is needed or something breaks, the business has to find and onboard a new developer from scratch each time. A maintenance retainer solves this by creating a permanent, accountable support relationship.

What's broken

A site that looks fine on the surface can have serious structural problems underneath.

47 plugin updates pending, each one a potential conflict or security patch

Every pending plugin update is either a security patch or a compatibility fix. Plugin vulnerabilities are published in public databases. Automated bots scan for unpatched installations around the clock. In the UAE, where many WordPress sites were built without a staging environment or a documented update process, the risk of plugin-based compromise is high for any site that has not been actively maintained.

No off-site backup since the site launched

The most common backup situation for a site built by a freelancer in the UAE is no backup at all, or a single copy stored on the same server as the live site. If the site is hacked, if the hosting account is terminated, or if a developer error corrupts the database, there is nothing to restore from. Rebuilding from scratch means losing every page, every image, every configuration setting accumulated since launch.

No uptime monitoring, so downtime is discovered by a client, not the business

If the site goes down at 2 am Dubai time, no one in the business finds out until a client or employee mentions it the next morning. Without an external monitor checking the site every minute, the only notification mechanism is an unhappy visitor. For businesses in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or across the UAE that use their website as a primary commercial or lead generation asset, this is a meaningful gap.

SSL certificate expired and not renewed

SSL certificates have fixed expiry dates. Without someone tracking and renewing them, they lapse. When they lapse, browsers display a full-page security warning before a visitor can see the homepage. For a business running paid advertising to the site, every visitor who sees that warning is wasted budget.

What we engineer

The maintenance plan covers every layer of the site, from the server environment to the content.

WordPress Core, Plugin, and Theme Updates (Tested on Staging)

All updates are applied to a staging copy of the site before anything touches production. We run functional tests after each update pass: key pages, forms, booking flows, product pages, and integrations. Conflicts are resolved on staging. Only a verified, tested version is promoted to the live site. For UAE businesses whose sites were built without a staging environment, we establish one as part of onboarding.

Security Scanning and Malware Monitoring

Automated scans check the site's files and database for known malware, unauthorised file changes, and code injections. Alerts are triggered immediately on detection. For businesses in the UAE where the original developer may have had broad, poorly documented access, security monitoring provides an independent view of the site's integrity at all times.

Uptime Monitoring with 99.9% SLA Alerting

An external monitor checks the site every minute from multiple locations. If the site goes offline or returns an error, an alert is sent immediately. Response time is tracked alongside availability. For UAE businesses relying on their website as a lead generation or booking channel, the monitor ensures that problems are caught before clients encounter them.

Daily Off-Site Backups with 30-Day Retention

Full backups of the site's files and database are taken daily and stored independently of the hosting server. Backups are retained for 30 days. Backup restorability is tested periodically. This is the single most important change for any UAE site that currently has no formal backup system in place.

Performance Monitoring and PageSpeed Regression Alerts

A baseline PageSpeed score is established for the site during onboarding. Performance is tracked continuously. If a plugin update, a new image, or a configuration change causes a regression, an alert is triggered. For businesses running Google Ads or other paid search campaigns in the UAE, site speed directly affects Quality Score and cost-per-click.

SSL Certificate Renewal and Spam/Bot Protection

SSL certificates are tracked and renewed before expiry. Firewall and bot protection rules filter malicious traffic, protect contact forms from spam, and reduce server load from automated scanners.

Monthly Maintenance Report and Support Hours Bank

A written report is delivered each month covering every maintenance action taken: updates applied, security scan results, uptime record, backup status, and performance metrics. A support hours bank (typically 2 to 5 hours per month) covers content edits, bug fixes, and minor development requests, so the site can be updated without sourcing a new developer for every small change.

What changes

After the maintenance plan is in place, four things are different.

Before
After
Before Every pending plugin update is either a security patch or a compatibility fix. Plugin vulnerabilities are published in public databases. Automated bots scan for unpatched installations around the clock. In the UAE, where many WordPress sites were built without a staging environment or a documented update process, the risk of plugin-based compromise is high for any site that has not been actively maintained.
After Every plugin, theme, and WordPress core installation is current. The attack surface that automated bots scan for is closed. For UAE businesses whose sites were built and then left unattended, this is a step change in the security posture of a commercial asset that may represent years of investment.
Before The most common backup situation for a site built by a freelancer in the UAE is no backup at all, or a single copy stored on the same server as the live site. If the site is hacked, if the hosting account is terminated, or if a developer error corrupts the database, there is nothing to restore from. Rebuilding from scratch means losing every page, every image, every configuration setting accumulated since launch.
After A tested, independent off-site backup means that any incident, whether a security compromise, a hosting failure, or a bad update, is recoverable within hours. For a UAE business whose current backup status is unknown or nonexistent, this change is immediate and significant.
Before If the site goes down at 2 am Dubai time, no one in the business finds out until a client or employee mentions it the next morning. Without an external monitor checking the site every minute, the only notification mechanism is an unhappy visitor. For businesses in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or across the UAE that use their website as a primary commercial or lead generation asset, this is a meaningful gap.
After The first alert about an outage reaches the maintenance team, not a client trying to reach the site. The monthly report documents the uptime record so reliability is tracked over time.
Before SSL certificates have fixed expiry dates. Without someone tracking and renewing them, they lapse. When they lapse, browsers display a full-page security warning before a visitor can see the homepage. For a business running paid advertising to the site, every visitor who sees that warning is wasted budget.
After Instead of searching for a freelancer in Dubai each time a page needs a content update, the support hours bank provides a direct line for routine changes. The person making the change understands the site because they maintain it every month.
How it works

Onboarding to a maintenance plan takes less than a week. The monthly cycle runs without requiring involvement from the site owner.

  1. 01

    Onboarding and Access Setup

We collect credentials for the WordPress admin, the hosting account, and the domain registrar. For UAE sites built by freelancers with no handover documentation, we work through a structured access recovery process to ensure all necessary access points are documented and secured before the original developer's access is reviewed. We establish a staging environment and configure the uptime monitor, backup system, and security scanner.

  2. 02

    Baseline Update Pass

We run a full update pass on staging to bring all plugins, themes, and WordPress core to current versions. Functional testing is conducted on staging before any changes reach production. Conflicts are resolved. The live site is updated only after staging is clean. The site enters the monthly maintenance cycle from a fully patched baseline.

  3. 03

    Ongoing Monthly Maintenance Cycle

Each month: update pass on staging, functional testing, production promotion, security scan review, backup verification, performance check, and monthly report. The site owner receives the report. No involvement is required from their side unless support requests are pending.

  4. 04

Support Requests Handled Within the Retainer

Content edits and bug fixes are submitted by email. Requests within the monthly support hours bank are handled without additional billing. If a request exceeds the bank, a quote is provided before work begins. Urgent matters are escalated and addressed the same business day.

Common questions

FAQ

The company that built our site is no longer operating. Can you still take over maintenance?

We can maintain any WordPress site regardless of the original builder's availability. During onboarding we audit what is installed, document it, and establish clean access credentials. If the previous developer or agency is unreachable and documentation is missing, we conduct an access recovery process to ensure all entry points are known and controlled before we begin ongoing maintenance.

Do you work with sites hosted on UAE-based servers?

We work with WordPress sites hosted anywhere, including on local UAE hosting providers, Gulf-region data centres, and international platforms. The maintenance process is the same regardless of hosting geography. The off-site backup infrastructure is independent of the hosting server in all cases.

What is included in the support hours bank?

The support hours bank covers content edits (text, images, page updates), minor bug fixes, small layout adjustments, plugin configuration changes, and other requests that fall within normal site maintenance. It does not cover new feature development or design work, which are quoted separately. Typical usage is 1 to 3 hours per month for most businesses.

How quickly are security alerts handled?

Security alerts are reviewed and acted on within four business hours of detection. If the scan identifies active malware or a confirmed intrusion, the response escalates to same-day containment. The incident is documented in full in the monthly report.

Can we increase the support hours if we have a busy month?

Additional support hours can be purchased at the standard hourly rate for any month where the regular bank is insufficient. This is handled by advance notice so work is not interrupted. For businesses with consistently higher support volumes, a higher-tier plan with more monthly hours is usually more cost-effective.

Start with a site audit, not a commitment

Send us access to your WordPress admin and we will audit the current state of the site: pending updates, backup status, security posture, SSL expiry, and uptime configuration. The audit takes less than 24 hours and is included in every maintenance proposal we produce. There is no obligation to proceed.

Ignited Nepal is a Growth Engineering Company. We maintain WordPress sites for businesses in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and across the UAE that need a reliable technical partner rather than another one-off project.
