Financial year not matching the Canadian business entity's fiscal year
Canadian businesses do not have a single standard fiscal year end. Most small businesses and sole proprietors use December 31. Many federal contractors, Crown corporations, and government-adjacent businesses use March 31. Some professional services firms and academic institutions use June 30 or August 31. HubSpot defaults to December 31. A business with a March 31 fiscal year end running HubSpot with a December 31 default will produce inaccurate YTD quota attainment from January through March, because the system treats those months as the end of one year while the business's finance function treats them as the final quarter of the current year. The discrepancy compounds when comparing current year to prior year performance. We configure HubSpot, Zoho CRM, and Salesforce with the correct fiscal year end date for your entity, rebuild the affected standard date filters, and verify that all pipeline reports and quota attainment calculations are using the right boundaries.
